Man Arrested For Allegedly Stoning Driver To Death In Cross River

                                   

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Adeshina Gilbert, for the alleged murder of a commercial driver, Agage Ternenge, in Obudu Local Government Area on July 18.

According to the state police spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, the victim was in the community to deliver a parcel when he was attacked and stoned to death by a group of hoodlums. Gilbert, a resident of Abonkib community in Obudu Urban, is currently in police custody.

Ugbo stated that the victim, a native of Mbanyam in Mbatyough Council Ward, Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, was ambushed during the delivery. A disturbing video of the brutal attack, now circulating on social media, shows the mob assaulting him.

The State Commissioner of Police strongly condemned the killing, calling it barbaric and a gross violation of human rights. He assured that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the other suspects still at large.
