Manchester United have taken the first steps in pursuing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, reportedly holding initial talks with his representatives, according to Foot Mercato.
The French outlet confirmed that a meeting recently took place between United officials and Osimhen’s camp, marking the start of formal discussions. Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has impressed with 33 goals and 8 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this season.
The 26-year-old is attracting interest from both Saudi Arabia and the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window. Although Al Hilal previously made a €50 million offer last summer, Osimhen opted for a move to Turkey. Saudi clubs remain keen, with Neom—a project-backed club—now monitoring his situation.
However, Osimhen is believed to prefer a move to the Premier League, largely due to the financial strength of English clubs. He is reportedly seeking a salary of €12 million per year, a figure only a few clubs in Europe can afford. Foot Mercato stated, “To be honest, England has the only league capable of covering the incredible salary demanded by the player.”
Manchester United are seen as frontrunners among Premier League suitors. The club is reportedly unhappy with its current attacking options and has compiled a shortlist of four potential strikers. Alongside Osimhen are Victor Gyökeres—currently the top target—and Liam Delap. United’s pursuit may depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League via the Europa League.
Napoli, Osimhen’s parent club, are expected to demand over €75 million including bonuses to sanction his departure.
