Military Ambush Kills Two Bandits In Plateau State

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven have neutralized two bandits and recovered weapons during a counter-insurgency operation in Plateau State.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the taskforce spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, the operation took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, after receiving credible intelligence about planned attacks by armed bandits targeting Nteng community in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.

Troops reportedly laid an ambush and made contact with the criminals, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Two bandits were neutralized during the encounter, while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds, as blood stains were found along their withdrawal route, Zhakom said.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered and are now in military custody for further investigation. He added that troops are actively pursuing the fleeing bandits to prevent further threats. This operational success highlights our continued efforts against armed militias and criminal elements.
