The family of Nollywood actress and body positivity advocate, Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, has announced that she will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in a private burial ceremony.
Monalisa, aged 34, passed away on May 13 in Lagos following reported complications related to low blood sugar and internal bleeding. Her untimely death was first confirmed by journalist Seun Oloketuyi.
Celebrated for her memorable performances in films such as Breaded Life (2021) and Mami Wata (2023), Monalisa was more than a talented actress—she was a passionate advocate for plus-size representation, mental health awareness, and radical self-love.
In a statement shared via her official Instagram account, her family wrote:
