A Nigerian mother of four, Latifat Shamseddin Giwa, has responded to accusations from a woman who claimed she acted “diabolically” to prevent her husband from taking a second wife. Latifat said the allegation is unfair, emphasizing that her actions stem from being married to a man who loves and values her sacrifices deeply.
In a Facebook post, the accuser, Ruqoyah Oladimeji, wrote:
“And is it a crime for your husband to marry another wife? What makes you think your jazz will keep working forever? Unless your husband is not a full man, wait till your own time comes. Time and seasons happen to us all.”
Latifat fired back, highlighting her loyalty and patience:
“This woman actually had the audacity to say I went ‘diabolical’ to stop my husband from marrying another wife. Let me set the record straight: I patiently married the love of my life, a man so intentional, so loyal, who sees all my sacrifices, my effort, my love, and loves me even more for it.”
She added a message to critics:
“To those women coming out to spew rubbish because you see someone being loved right… maybe it stings because you wish I were going through the hell you’re passing through, or maybe you’re secretly hoping he’d choose one of you as a second wife. Some of you wouldn’t even look at him twice when we were struggling.”
Latifat concluded by invoking faith and prayer:
“I relied on Allah in every step of my life, and He blessed me with a husband worth every bit of patience and prayer. As for falsely accusing me… may Allah judge you. And I seek refuge in Allah over my marriage and everything that brings me true happiness.”
