The naira continued to appreciate slightly against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market as of the close of trading on Thursday, August 14, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Figures published on the CBN’s official website show the naira strengthened to ₦1,534.52 per dollar, compared to ₦1,534.83 the previous day—a modest gain of 0.3.
In the parallel (black) market, the naira held steady at ₦1,565 per dollar, the same rate as the previous day.
Earlier in the week, the naira recorded gains across both official and parallel markets. Meanwhile, the CBN, through its spokesperson Hakama Sidi Ali, reiterated its call for Nigerians to refrain from spraying, hawking, mutilating, or counterfeiting the naira.
