A 2-year-old girl, identified as Chiamaka Favor (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025, has been rescued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

According to a statement released by the agency on Friday, May 9, the child was rescued by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command on May 8, 2025. The suspected trafficker, who allegedly collaborated with three trafficking syndicates in Abuja, reportedly sold the girl for N100,000. The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia and subsequently handed over to NAPTIP.

The agency is now seeking public assistance to locate the child’s biological parents or relatives.

“Investigations are ongoing. NAPTIP urges the biological parents or any relatives of the child to urgently contact the agency,” the statement read.
