The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a safety advisory to residents of Kaduna, urging them to avoid the NDA Open Range in Afaka from May 5 to 8, 2025, during a scheduled Range Classification Exercise.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Major Mohammed Maiwada, the exercise is designed to improve participants’ weapon handling skills and combat readiness.

“To ensure public safety throughout the period, the NDA urges members of the community, especially herders and farmers in nearby areas, to avoid entering the range area during the exercise,” Maiwada said.

He emphasized that strict safety protocols will be in place, and unauthorized access to the firing range will not be permitted.

The NDA has appealed to media outlets and community leaders to help spread the information to ensure public awareness and cooperation.

Maiwada also reiterated the Academy’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with local communities and prioritizing their safety during all military operations.

“The NDA appreciates the understanding and support of residents during this important training activity,” he added.
