Nigerian Teen Jailed For Life Over Fatal Stabbing In London

A Nigerian teenager who murdered a 21-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom.

Jackson Uwagboe, 19, of Hamilton Street, Lewisham, fled to Nigeria after carrying out what prosecutors described as a “vicious attack” in south-east London. He was found guilty on 10 February at the Old Bailey of murdering Robert Robinson on 6 June 2024 in Deptford.

On Wednesday, 18 February 2026, Uwagboe was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years. He was also convicted of robbery and possession of a bladed article.

Two other men, Ryan Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris, 19, were convicted of Robinson’s murder in May last year and also received life sentences. Wedderburn was ordered to serve a minimum of 23 years, while Harris must serve at least 22 years and nine months.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Robinson sustained 12 serious stab wounds during the attack, including defensive injuries that showed he had tried to shield himself. He died at the scene on Carteret Way in Deptford.

Police said all three men fled after the attack, with Uwagboe leaving the country. He returned to the UK on 25 February 2025 and was arrested on suspicion of murder at Gatwick Airport.

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, who led the investigation, said Robinson was subjected to a “brutal and sustained attack” by a group of men armed with knives. He stated that Robinson was unarmed, already injured, and on the ground when Uwagboe attacked him, adding that the defendant’s claim of self-defence had no basis.

Tovey said the verdicts delivered justice for Robinson and his family, who had to endure two trials after Uwagboe fled the country.
