The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, citing “serious allegations of financial misconduct.” According to the agency, he was apprehended after repeatedly failing to honor their invitations for questioning.
The EFCC emphasized that his previous outspoken criticism of the agency did not influence their decision to arrest him. They also stated that he has been granted bail and will be released once he meets the required conditions.
The news has sparked strong reactions from Nigerians online.
@Inno4Chi questioned the EFCC’s transparency, saying:
“Show us copies of the petition… Why allow it take days? Why make the conditions of bail unbearable?”
@MiracleAdeboboye expressed frustration over perceived selective justice:
“But you can’t arrest Yahaya Bello… EFCC is now a tool for silencing people.”
@thealexisJnr reacted in disbelief:
“So VDM isn’t clean either.”
