A Nigerian woman, Abdulazeez Hope Maryam, has shared the heartbreaking story of how she lost her two-month-old daughter after waiting for hours without medical attention at a hospital in Kano State.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Maryam recounted rushing her baby to the emergency department of Nassarawa Hospital in Kano. Despite the critical condition of her child, no doctors were available to attend to them for over two hours.

Tragically, before she could seek help at another facility, her daughter passed away.

“When people say, ‘May Nigeria never happen to you,’ I never truly understood what they meant until I experienced it firsthand,” she wrote. “I rushed my daughter to Nassarawa Hospital, to the emergency department. We waited for more than two hours — no doctor attended to us. Before I could leave for another hospital, I lost my precious daughter.”

In a moving tribute to her late daughter, named Hibatullah, Maryam wrote:

My tiny angel, though your time with me was short, your impact on my life will be felt forever. In just two months, you stole my heart with your sweet smiles and gentle coos. Your brief life touched my soul in ways I will cherish always. Rest peacefully, little one, and shine brightly among the stars. I love you more than words can say.
