No Terrorism Weapons Found On Nnamdi Kanu During Arrest, DSS Witness Testifies In Court

We did not find weapon of terrorism on Nnamdi Kanu during arrest in Lagos ? DSS witness tells court

On Friday, May 2, a prosecution witness for the Federal Government testified before the Federal High Court in Abuja that no weapons linked to terrorism or violence were found on Nnamdi Kanu when he was arrested in Lagos on October 15, 2015.

The witness, an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) identified only as PWAAA, also confirmed that no instruments capable of causing public disturbance were recovered from the woman who was arrested with Kanu.

Under cross-examination by Kanu’s lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), PWAAA stated that all the items seized from Kanu were his personal belongings. While the items themselves were not inherently offensive, the witness suggested their potential use might depend on Kanu’s intentions. He clarified that his role was limited to executing the arrest and obtaining a statement from Kanu, not to conduct an analysis of the items.

Although PWAAA admitted analyzing Kanu’s phone, he said the report was not submitted to the court because it was deemed irrelevant. He further acknowledged that the items, held for nearly a decade, may now have lost their functional value. He also admitted that Kanu’s statement was taken without legal representation and that no individual had been brought forward to confront Kanu with any terrorism-related accusation.
