The First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun, took to social media to honor her late son, Gbemiga, also known as DJ Olu, on what would have been his birthday today, August 14.
DJ Olu tragically passed away alongside his friend Chime on October 7, 2017, at the age of 24.
In her heartfelt message, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun shared:
“Back in October 2017, Lamissa told me, ‘Mummy, no matter how happy we try to be, it will never feel complete because Gbemiga won’t be here. We have to learn to live with that.’ How true those words were in the face of such sorrow.
It’s your birthday again, and I’m filled with gratitude—grateful to God for so many things. I’m happy, yet my joy is always shadowed by the painful reminder that you’re not here to celebrate with us, nor we with you.
Despite my faith, I am honest with myself about the enduring ache of imagining who you would have become, how different life might have been with you here, the plans you had for yourself and for me, and those precious, genuine moments we shared. My heart breaks as I write this, thinking of what could have been, but I trust God’s wisdom in allowing things to be as they are.
My dear Gbemiga, may you continue to rest in peace. We remember you fondly today, as always, because I know this is what you would have wanted. Love you today, and forever.”
