Ondo Court Stops Man from Staying at Ex-Wife’s Family Home

Ondo court bars man from sleeping at ex-wife?s family house

An Akure Magistrate’s Court has issued a restraining order against Mr. Ademola Adesina, prohibiting him from loitering or spending the night at the family home of his estranged wife, Mrs. Iyabo Omoleye.

The order followed a complaint filed by Omoleye, who accused Adesina of neglecting his responsibilities toward their children and being abusive during their marriage. She told the court that he had abandoned the family for over six months, only to return abruptly and attempt to claim custody of the children—despite offering no support during his absence.

Omoleye alleged that Adesina often harassed her and lingered around her family residence, where she currently lives with the children. She also claimed he refused to provide for them, allegedly stating he gained nothing from doing so.

In his defense, Adesina said their home was peaceful until his imprisonment. Upon his release, he claimed he found his wife three months pregnant with another man’s child—a pregnancy she later terminated. He further alleged that she mocked his sexual abilities and eventually evicted him after taking over their apartment rent.

Adesina, who now claims to be homeless and jobless, said he had no option but to sleep outside his wife’s family home. He also claimed the children no longer recognized him as their father due to alleged “brainwashing.”

Presiding over the case, Hon. Justice A.E. Akeredolu advised Adesina to focus on rebuilding his life and finding employment rather than returning to the premises.

“The respondent is hereby restrained from going to sleep in the wife’s family house premises,” the court ruled.

The judge also stated that matters relating to child custody and maintenance would be addressed during the next hearing, scheduled for July 1.

Despite the court’s directive, Adesina insisted he had nowhere else to go, prompting the court to warn that defying the order would lead to serious consequences.
