Victor Osimhen scored as Galatasaray clinched their 25th Turkish Super Lig title on Sunday, sealing a dominant 3–0 victory over Kayserispor and leaving Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce to finish second for the fourth consecutive season.
Osimhen opened the scoring, taking his league tally to 25 goals since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last September. The win puts the Istanbul giants eight points clear of Fenerbahce with two matches left, securing their Champions League group stage qualification.
Veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera added a late penalty to complete the scoreline, capping off a season in which Galatasaray led the league from the third matchday onward.
Fenerbahce’s title drought now stretches to 11 years, and local reports suggest the failure to secure silverware could lead to Mourinho’s early departure—despite having one year left on his contract.
The Portuguese manager’s frustrations showed last month during a heated Turkish Cup quarter-final loss to Galatasaray, where he was seen grabbing the face of rival coach Okan Buruk. Fenerbahce’s inability to win any of their four Istanbul derbies against Galatasaray and Besiktas ultimately cost them dearly in the title race.
