Turkish football analyst Onur Tugrul has suggested that Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen could be open to accepting a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, driven by a strong sense of personal responsibility and deep cultural connection to his Nigerian roots.
Speaking during an interview on the Vole YouTube channel, Tugrul emphasized that Osimhen’s circumstances are markedly different from other high-profile players who have rejected offers from the Middle East.
“Edin Dzeko turned down a Saudi offer that was three times higher than what he earns at Fenerbahçe,” Tugrul noted. “But Victor Osimhen’s situation is different.”
According to Tugrul, Osimhen carries a significant burden of responsibility, supporting hundreds — potentially thousands — of people in Nigeria.
“He comes from a background where large, tightly-knit communities rely on him. That sense of duty may shape his career decisions,” Tugrul explained.
He also highlighted Osimhen’s strong attachment to his Nigerian identity: “Even when he goes out at night, he’s always surrounded by people. He doesn’t eat Turkish food—only Nigerian dishes.”
These personal and cultural factors, Tugrul suggested, could heavily influence Osimhen’s response should a substantial offer come from a Saudi Arabian club.
