The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has once again shared his personal vision of how he believes he will pass away—peacefully, on a Sunday, after attending church service and enjoying his favourite meal, pounded yam.
Speaking on Day 4 of RCCG’s International Convention 2025, themed “The Overcomers,” Pastor Adeboye said his death will be sudden and painless, not the result of illness.
I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” he said, noting that he first shared this vision two years ago. I’m repeating it to remind believers that death can be peaceful for those in Christ.”
In a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions,” he challenged Christians to claim their spiritual inheritance—healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and long life—by resisting spiritual opposition.
Drawing from the story of the Israelites claiming the Promised Land, Adeboye emphasized that blessings often require a spiritual fight:
You may have to fight for things that are already yours. Jesus paid the price for your healing and prosperity, but the devil still tries to steal them.
He warned against tolerating sickness, poverty, or barrenness, calling it a believer’s duty to actively resist spiritual attacks.
As long as you want to remain poor, you will remain poor. If you tolerate sickness, it will stay. You must fight for what Christ already gave you, he said, referencing John 10:10.
He also addressed the criticism successful Christians often face:
If a Christian prospers, they’re attacked. If he dies poor, people ask, ‘Where is your God?
Using examples from the Bible such as Rachel, Hannah, and Jacob, Pastor Adeboye called for persistence in prayer and faith, encouraging Christians not to accept any form of spiritual oppression.
Stop tolerating what God never intended for you. Fight to possess your possessions—it’s your right through Christ.
The convention continues at the Redemption Camp, with thousands in attendance from across Nigeria and beyond.
