PDP Appeals To Peter Obi And Former Members To Rejoin Party

The Anambra State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to return to the PDP, describing the party as “rejuvenated and restructured.”

The appeal was made following an enlarged State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held in Awka on June 5, aimed at assessing the party’s current position and future direction.

In a communiqué signed by Anambra PDP Chairman, Mr. Chidi Chidebe, the party warned against alliances with “ideologically incompatible political formations” under the guise of coalitions, suggesting such efforts are unlikely to succeed.

“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Anambra, particularly our revered former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, to return home,” Chidebe stated. “We will gladly welcome our brothers and sisters back to join us in the collective quest for a better Nigeria.”

Chidebe also urged Anambra voters to support PDP candidates Jude Ezenwafor and his running mate, Francis Okeke, in the upcoming election. He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free, fair, and credible process.

Additionally, the SEC announced the unanimous nomination of Chief Clems Ezike to fill the vacant position of National Ex-Officio representing Anambra. Chidebe appealed to the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee, led by Chief Ali Odefa, to forward the nomination to the PDP national secretariat.

He also praised the party’s leadership for a successful National Executive Committee meeting on May 27 and expressed confidence in the framework established to resolve internal disputes.
