A coalition of opposition parties in Gombe State, operating under the banner of the United Group to Save Gombe State from the Menace of All Progressives Congress (APC), has described the state’s current administration as incompetent and pledged to unseat it in the next election.
The coalition includes the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Labour Party.
Speaking at a press briefing Friday night, the group’s convener and 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate, Jibrin Barde, said the coalition’s mission is to rescue Gombe from underdevelopment and poor governance.
We want to send the incompetent APC government packing from Gombe Government House,” Barde said. “This is part of a broader national movement. The opposition is uniting to save the country and deliver the development Nigeria desperately needs.
Barde criticized the state’s deteriorating infrastructure and rising insecurity, adding that basic services like healthcare, education, and business support have collapsed.
Our children are suffering, our schools and hospitals are in terrible condition, and traders lack access to capital. The situation is dire.
He emphasized that the coalition is focused on uniting all well-meaning individuals for the sake of good governance, not personal ambition.
This isn’t about one person. It’s about the people of Gombe. Our goal is to come together under one umbrella and bring the leadership the state truly needs.
Modibbo Adamu, Chairman of the SDP in Gombe, echoed Barde’s sentiments and urged residents to support the coalition’s efforts.
We are committed to doing everything possible to remove the APC from power in Gombe. This movement is beyond party lines — it’s about saving our state, Adamu said, while clarifying he couldn’t speak for the SDP at the national level.
The coalition aims to expand its reach and influence ahead of the 2027 elections, signaling what could be a major shift in the political landscape of Gombe State.

We are still in 2025 bikonu.
