Petition calling for Nicki Minaj’s deportation to Trinidad surpasses 70,000 signatures

A Change.org petition calling for the deportation of rapper Nicki Minaj from the United States to Trinidad and Tobago has gained widespread attention, amassing more than 70,000 signatures in the days leading up to the New Year.

The petition, titled “Deport Nicki Minaj to Trinidad,” surged in popularity following Minaj’s recent appearance at a Turning Point USA event hosted by conservative activist Erika Kirk. Critics online have accused the rapper of aligning herself with far-right political movements, with detractors branding her “Nicki MAGAJ” across social media platforms.

The campaign was reportedly launched by an individual using the pseudonym “Pedonika Minaj,” a name critics say was chosen to draw attention to controversies involving Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender. The petition references Petty’s past convictions and criticises Minaj for publicly defending him, as well as revisiting allegations that she harassed his accusers—claims the rapper has previously denied.

The petition also points to Minaj’s highly publicised fallout earlier this year with Jay-Z and his label, Roc Nation, framing the dispute as further evidence of what critics describe as increasingly erratic behaviour.

Despite the growing number of signatures, the petition carries no legal authority. There has been no indication that US immigration officials or authorities in Trinidad and Tobago are considering any action related to the campaign. Minaj has not publicly responded to the petition, and media requests for comment from the Trinidad and Tobago government are reportedly ongoing.
