A Chief Magistrate Court in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has sentenced controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, to three months in prison with the option of a ₦30,000 fine.
Portable was convicted on charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. The incident, which led to his arrest in March 2023, involved the musician physically attacking a police inspector and obstructing officers attempting to serve him an arrest warrant.
During the proceedings, Police Prosecutor Inspector Olumide Awoleke informed the court that the offences were committed on November 18, 2022, around 11:00 a.m. in the Okeosa area of Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District.
The charge sheet detailed the following:

Count 1: Portable and others, still at large, were accused of conspiring to commit felony—specifically, assault—contrary to and punishable under Section 517 of the Ogun State Criminal Code Law, 2006.

Count 2: He was also charged with unlawfully assaulting one Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi by physically beating him, an offense under Section 351 of the same law.

Count 3: Additionally, Portable was accused of stealing music equipment in 2022, including a Yamaha H55 studio monitor, a Studio 2 interface cable, and an AKG P420 condenser microphone, contrary to Sections 383 and 384, and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo found Portable guilty on Counts 1 and 2. The court sentenced him to one month in prison with a ₦10,000 fine option for Count 1 and two months with a ₦20,000 fine option for Count 2. He was not convicted on the theft charge.
