President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday joined Muslim faithful to observe the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos State.
The president was accompanied by top government officials and dignitaries, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Defence Muhammed Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola; and Minister of State for Defence Bello Muhammed Matawalle. Others in attendance were former Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Dangote Group President Alhaji Aliko Dangote, BUA Group Chairman Abdul Rabiu, Oando Group Chief Executive Wale Tinubu, and longtime friend of the president, Prof. Shaffideen Amuwo.
After the prayers, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity, compassion, and generosity- especially towards the vulnerable.
“As we make sacrifices, we should remember to pray and give to those who are vulnerable,” he said. “We must come together as one, be our brothers’ keepers, and love everyone fully. We must also pray hard for our troops, who are keeping us safe despite the challenges of terrorism and banditry.”
A statement by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga added that the Chief Imam urged worshippers to promote peace and care for the less fortunate.
“If we are to see the Nigeria of our dreams, we must be ready to make sacrifices and rise above tribal sentiments,” the Imam stated.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to the nation, Tinubu appealed for continued patience with the reforms under his administration, assuring citizens that brighter days are ahead.
“We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere. Our reforms are gaining traction… Soon, all will feel the benefits,” the president said.
