Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year for the third time, equaling Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s record.

Salah, 32, claimed over 90% of the votes from the FWA’s 900 members. His Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk came second, followed by Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

The Egyptian forward has had a standout season, scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists in 35 Premier League matches. His contributions were key to Liverpool’s title-winning campaign under new manager Arne Slot, earning the club their 20th English top-flight title and drawing level with Manchester United for the most in history.

Salah’s closest competitor, van Dijk, played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s solid defense throughout the season. Isak, in third place, scored 26 goals across all competitions and was instrumental in Newcastle ending their 56-year trophy drought. Rice’s consistent performances in both domestic and European competitions secured him fourth place.

Fifteen other players received votes, including: Bruno Fernandes, Chris Wood, Alexis Mac Allister, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jacob Murphy, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Murillo, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
