Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled to hold from January 19 to 23, 2026.
Shettima arrived in Davos from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya on Friday.
According to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, the Vice President was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.
Nigeria’s participation at this year’s forum marks a major milestone, as the Federal Government has, for the first time, established a dedicated sovereign pavilion known as Nigeria House Davos. Located on the Davos Promenade, the facility was created through a public-private partnership and will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum. Shettima is expected to formally inaugurate the pavilion during his visit.
Speaking to journalists, Dr Oduwole said Nigeria would use the platform to strongly project its investment opportunities to the global community. She noted that four key “playbooks” highlighting President Tinubu’s efforts to re-engineer the Nigerian economy would be presented.
“We will be showcasing our solid minerals sector, climate-smart and sustainable agriculture, as well as the creative and digital sectors to investors from all over the world,” she said.
The statement further revealed that the Vice President will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global leaders and take part in plenary sessions focusing on the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotechnology.
Shettima is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state, top executives of multinational corporations and leaders of international development finance institutions on the sidelines of the forum.
The World Economic Forum annual meeting brings together thousands of participants, including world leaders, business executives, civil society actors and journalists, to deliberate on global economic challenges, technological innovation and climate action.
