Nigerian singer Simi has responded to the recent resurfacing of some of her old tweets.
In a post on X, she explained that the tweets were from around 14 years ago, when she was 23, helping at her mother’s daycare while working to establish her music career. She said the posts were casual reflections on her daily life, including funny or cute moments with children, and insisted they were never intended to be inappropriate.
Simi added that she will not allow her story to be misrepresented and emphasized that she has always been a vocal opponent of rape and sexual assault.
She also revealed that, though she was initially hesitant, her team has started deleting some of the old tweets due to the sensitivity of the situation for her family.
