Star Comedian Okey Bakassi Tops Line-Up At Niger Delta Games Cultural Expo

Benin City — Veteran comedian Okey Bakassi will headline a star-studded comedy line-up at the Cultural Expo Night of the 2nd Niger Delta Games, scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, at the Cathelea Convention Centre.

Adding musical flair to the evening, Niger Delta music star Harrysong will lead a cast of performers that also includes fast-rising act Daniel Edoreh, popularly known as Danielo. The entertainment night is designed as a celebratory break for athletes who have spent six days competing for medals on behalf of their states.

Speaking on the initiative, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, Lead Consultant at Dunamis-Icon Limited, organisers of the Games, said the high-profile entertainment reflects a deliberate effort to deliver a holistic youth experience.

“The primary objective is sports,” Ikpokpo explained, “but we also want the athletes to learn discipline and orderliness through well-choreographed ceremonies and to enjoy leisure and relaxation through quality entertainment.”

The Cultural Expo Night is coordinated by the Entertainment Committee chaired by entertainment impresario Edi Lawani. He revealed a rich mix of comedians and performers, including Seyi Law, Jikume, MC Porcupyne and G-Flex.

The programme will also feature performances by DJ Wikki, MC Casino, Ikpa Udo, DJ Masked Queen and DJ Sunny Dread, alongside dance displays and a fashion parade.

“We have carefully curated artistes from across the Niger Delta, blending established stars with emerging talents,” Lawani said. “There will also be interactive segments, giving athletes the chance to showcase their skills on the microphone and the dance floor in a variety contest.”

The 2nd Niger Delta Games commenced on February 20 and is sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission, with Dunamis-Icon Limited as project managers.
