President Bola Tinubu has nominated the former Sole Administrator of Rivers State and ex–Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, as a non-career ambassador.
Also on the new list are former Senator Ita Enang, former Imo First Lady Chioma Ohakim, and former Interior Minister and ex–Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
Their names were absent from the earlier batch of ambassadorial nominees released by the presidency.
In a letter to the Senate, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary, Tinubu asked lawmakers to consider the nominees quickly so key diplomatic positions can be filled without delay.
Akpabio subsequently referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, directing the committee to screen the nominees and report back within one week.
These additions come shortly after Tinubu nominated former presidential aide Reno Omokri, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, and former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu as non-career ambassadors.
