President Bola Tinubu has postponed his official visit to Kaduna State and will instead visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as part of efforts to address ongoing violence and foster peace in the region.
This was disclosed in a statement signed on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. The President’s visit aims to assess firsthand the recurring crisis that has claimed many lives and caused widespread destruction, Onanuga said.
Tinubu was originally scheduled to commission various projects in Kaduna on Wednesday. That visit has now been moved to Thursday, June 19.
While in Benue, the President will meet with traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community stakeholders, and youth groups in a bid to find lasting solutions to the conflict.
Ahead of his visit, Tinubu has already deployed key officials to the state, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, intelligence chiefs, the National Security Adviser, and the chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees.
A town hall meeting is also expected to take place during the visit.
President Tinubu has repeatedly condemned the violence in Benue and urged leaders and citizens to embrace peace, unity, and mutual understanding. He also extended condolences to the families of victims and those affected by the unrest.
