Trump: Israel Agrees To 60-Day Gaza Ceasefire

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, July 1, that Israel has agreed to the key terms of a 60-day ceasefire in the ongoing Gaza conflict, placing the onus on Hamas to accept the deal.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States would use the two-month truce period to work with all sides to achieve a long-term resolution to the war.

Mediators from Qatar and Egypt—both central to previous peace negotiations—are expected to present the latest proposal to Hamas, which the U.S. continues to designate as a terrorist organization. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better – IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE, Trump warned in his message.

Trump added that U.S. officials held a “long and productive” meeting with Israeli representatives earlier on Tuesday to discuss the Gaza situation. However, there has been no official response yet from the Israeli government.

The President had hinted at a potential breakthrough in ceasefire negotiations days earlier and is scheduled to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington next week. The Gaza war is expected to be a central topic in their discussions.

Trump reaffirmed his belief that a formal agreement could be finalized next week, as U.S. diplomatic efforts to secure support for the proposed 60-day truce continue.
