Chess champion and social impact advocate Tunde Onakoya has addressed accusations of tribal bias with a compelling metaphor about division and manipulation.
Responding to a tweet accusing him of only helping people from the Yoruba tribe, Tunde referenced the widely shared “ant jar” analogy:
If you put 100 black ants and 100 red ants in a jar, nothing happens. But if you shake the jar, the ants start killing each other… The real enemy is the one who shook the jar.
He then spoke directly to the rising tribal sentiment online:
Someone tagged me ‘ewedu excellence’ this morning… The tribalism and bigotry here really sadden me. It never used to be like this,” he wrote. “I hope you someday see that I am not your enemy. It is those who shake the jar we must fight.
His message has drawn praise from many for its wisdom and call for unity.
