The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the United States.
The US Mission in Nigeria announced the temporary closure via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, noting that the day is dedicated to honoring American military personnel who died in service to their country.
Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, is marked by commemorative events, tributes, and the display of the American flag in remembrance of the nation’s fallen heroes.
During the holiday, routine consular services at both the embassy and consulate will be suspended. Normal operations are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, May 27.
For emergency consular assistance, the US Mission has directed individuals to consult its official website for relevant contact details.
