The marketing firm handling the sale of Nigeria’s presidential Boeing 737-700 Business Jet has removed the aircraft from its listings.
The jet, which had previously appeared on the company’s website, was no longer visible when our correspondent checked. In an email to The PUNCH, JetHQ’s Manager of Market Research, Laurie Barringer, confirmed that the aircraft is no longer listed and referred further inquiries to the Nigerian government.
“Thank you for your email. We no longer have the listing on the Boeing. You will need to reach out to the Nigerian Government for information as to what has become of the aircraft,” Barringer wrote.
The media aide to the National Security Adviser, Ismail Garba, had promised a response but had not replied days later.
The development follows reports in October 2025 that the jet, listed by the Federal Government in July 2025, remained unsold nearly four months after being uploaded on the international aircraft sales platform. Earlier email exchanges with JetHQ had indicated the jet was still available.
Barringer previously noted that the company could not share proprietary details beyond confirming availability. The jet had undergone partial refurbishment and inspections at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, including first-class seat upgrades, carpet replacement, and major C1–C2 inspections.
Purchased in 2005 for $43 million during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure, the Boeing 737 BBJ has been part of Nigeria’s Presidential Air Fleet. Pre-owned models of this aircraft are valued at around $56 million, depending on configuration and maintenance history.
The Tinubu administration had announced the jet’s sale in July 2025 as part of a cost-cutting and fleet rationalization strategy amid public scrutiny of government spending.
