
Voters in Saturday’s by-election across the Ovia Federal Constituency and Edo Central Senatorial District expressed satisfaction with the early arrival of voting materials and the smooth conduct of the process.
At Idumu Iyasele Primary School, Ewatto Ward III Units 4 and 11 in Esan South-East LGA, voting began early, with materials arriving promptly.
Seventy-year-old Pa Victor Enajie, who voted at Unit 4, said he was impressed by how quickly the process moved.
“Materials came early, around 7:30 am. I came, was accredited, and have already voted. Everything went smoothly,” he said.
Another voter, Emmanuel Ehidiamen, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a peaceful and organized election.
“This is how elections should be conducted in Nigeria. I voted in Unit 11, and as you can see, the process is going well. I also commend the security personnel for their presence and professionalism,” he said.
An INEC official at the polling unit, who declined to be named, confirmed that everything was running seamlessly, with no network issues and all the machines functioning properly.
Voters turned out as early as 7:00 am, conducting themselves in an orderly manner. Many elderly citizens lined up patiently while others searched for their names in the voters’ register under the watchful eyes of security personnel.
A similar scene played out at Ozolua Model Primary School and the old Education Board in Iguobazua, Ovia South-West. Voter Osamuyi, who cast his ballot at Ozolua Model School, said he was able to vote before 8:30 am thanks to the early arrival of materials
