Potter, who was once quite experimental with his team selections, has resided to a 3-4-3 in recent matches, which has led to mixed fortunes. That being said, we expect West Ham to play a 4-2-3-1 against their London rivals.
Alphonse Areola retains his place as the Hammers’ first-choice goalkeeper. Despite keeping consecutive clean sheets away at Arsenal and at home to Leicester, he has conceded a goal in each of his last three matches, where the Hammers have only picked up one point out of a possible nine.
Łukasz Fabiański has also stepped in this season until he sustained a back injury in a 1-0 away win against Southampton in Ivan Juric’s first game managing the Saints, helping Areola reclaim his spot.
Potter has consistently played a back five with two wing-backs, with Oliver Scarles who has replaced Emerson in recent matches at left-wing back and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-wing back. The centre-back trio is made up of Max Kilman, who Julen Lopetegui signed from Wolves in the summer, Aaron Cresswell and Jean-Clair Todibo.
In most matches under Potter, there was a midfield five consisting of wingbacks Scarles and Wan-Bissaka with three centre midfielders consisting of Lucas Paqueta, James Ward-Prowse and Carlos Soler.
Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have played on the wings for the majority of the season but have slotted in to replace striker Niclas Fullkrug when the German has been injured. Since his move from Dortmund, he has scored three goals and gained two assists in 14 Premier League matches.
West Ham Recent Form
West Ham have been far from expectations this season, with the Hammers winless in their last seven league matches. The Hammers’ last win came against relegated Leicester City on February 27, which is also the date of their last clean sheet.
Since Potter’s appointment, West Ham has only won three matches, conceding goals in the dying embers of the match in their last three. This streak included failing to beat relegated Southampton at home after conceding in added time, with the Saints currently statistically the joint worst side in league history, and conceding to makeshift centre-back Carlos Baleba in the 92nd minute in a game the Hammers were leading until the 89th minute.
This result leaves West Ham in 17th, one point from their opponents Tottenham.
West Ham Injuries To Consider
Potter will have three injuries to take into account when choosing his team selection for this evening against their London rivals.
Crysencio Summerville is ruled out until the end of the season with a hamstring injury. Michail Antonio is also out for the remainder of the season with a broken leg.
Alvarez is out with a back injury he picked up after the Hammers 2-1 defeat away to Liverpool but there is anticipation that he may return before the end of the season.
