Wife of Iran’s Supreme Leader Dies After US-Israeli Strikes

The wife of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, has died at the age of 79 after succumbing to injuries sustained during strikes carried out by the United States and Israel, Iranian state media reported.

Mansoureh Khojasteh had been in a coma since Saturday, following the attacks that killed Khamenei, according to Press TV. The Times of Israel noted that the couple had been married since 1964.

The strikes came amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran, prompting retaliatory attacks from Iran targeting Israel and Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia.

On Saturday, US and Israeli forces killed Khamenei, with former President Donald Trump announcing his death on Truth Social, describing the leader as “one of the most evil people in history.”

Trump wrote that the action represented justice not only for the people of Iran but also for Americans and others affected by Khamenei’s regime.

According to a post by U.S. Central Command on X, the number of US service members killed in the operation has risen to four, including one who succumbed to injuries sustained during Iran’s initial retaliatory attacks.

Centcom added that major combat operations are ongoing, and US forces continue their response efforts in the region.
