
The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the death of a young woman whose lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room in the Igbogene area of Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to local residents, the woman had checked into the hotel with a young man alleged to be an internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a “Yahoo boy.” Witnesses claim the man left the premises shortly after they checked in, leaving the woman behind.
Hotel staff reportedly discovered her unresponsive hours later and immediately contacted the Igbogene Divisional Police Headquarters. Police officers arrived at the scene, evacuated the body, and transferred it to a nearby mortuary. The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.
Confirming the incident, the Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Muhammad, stated that investigations are ongoing.
“We received the report yesterday. No arrests have been made so far, but the investigation is in progress. We are pursuing all leads to ensure the suspect is apprehended. An autopsy will also be conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” he said.
