Neymar Renews Santos Deal: “I’m Going, I’m Back, I’m Staying

Brazilian football superstar Neymar has officially renewed his contract with Santos FC, the club where his professional journey began. The 33-year-old forward, who rejoined Santos in January on a six-month deal following his exit from Saudi side Al-Hilal, will now stay on until the end of the Brazilian Serie A season, with an option to extend.

The former Barcelona and PSG star had been the subject of speculation about a return to European football, but he chose instead to remain with the team that shaped his early career.

“I made a decision, and I listened to my heart,” Neymar said. “Santos is not just my team — it’s my home, my roots, my life. This is where I became a man and where I am truly loved. I want to fulfil the remaining dreams of my career right here. Nothing’s going to stop me. I go, I come back, and I stay — where it all began, and where it will never end.”

During his time with Santos, Neymar has tallied an impressive 141 goals and 69 assists in 243 appearances.

Santos president Marcelo Teixeira called the renewal a landmark moment for the club.

“It is a historic day for Brazilian football. Our idol, our boy, the prince with the number 10 shirt stays,” he said. “Neymar is essential to the club’s rebuilding — both on and off the pitch. His return marks a powerful repositioning for Santos FC.”

Neymar, who was recalled to Brazil’s national squad in March after a 17-month absence, has not featured in recent qualifiers due to a knee injury sustained in October 2023. He has scored 79 goals in 128 appearances for Brazil.

His renewed commitment to Santos is being hailed as a symbol of loyalty and a boost for the club’s ambitions to rise once more to prominence in Brazilian and global football.
