Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has begun consultations with leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State as he sets his sights on contesting the 2027 governorship election.
During separate meetings on Friday in Ogbomoso and Oyo zones, Adelabu met with party leaders, including Ayoade Adeseun and other APC chieftains, to seek their support and rally unity within the party.
Speaking in Ogbomoso, Adelabu described the meeting as part of ongoing efforts to engage key stakeholders across all geopolitical zones of the state. He reassured party members that no aspirant would be imposed in 2027.
“I’m up to the task. I want to show that I can face competition, withstand pressure, and emerge victorious,” he said, while urging members to set aside past grievances and focus on the party’s return to power.
“I’ve learned from the last two elections. I believe Ogbomoso has a vital role to play, and I am here to seek your support,” he added.
Adelabu also threw his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying the South-West must consolidate its opportunity to complete two presidential terms.
In Oyo town, he promised to run an inclusive government if elected, pledging fair representation for all zones.
“No one will be left behind. I want to demonstrate that nobody can be imposed on the party, and I am ready to earn my place through hard work,” he said.
Calling Oyo zone “symbolic and historic,” Adelabu vowed to give the area the recognition and development it deserves.
In their remarks, Ayoade Adeseun and Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, son of the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, urged APC members to unite behind a common goal of reclaiming power in 2027.
