Trump Throws Shade At Taylor Swift During Super Bowl Ceremony

Donald Trump shades singer Taylor Swift during Eagles visit to White House

The Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, but the event drew headlines when President Donald Trump took a jab at pop star Taylor Swift during his remarks.

While congratulating the Eagles on their 40–22 win, Trump referenced Swift, a well-known Chiefs supporter and girlfriend of tight end Travis Kelce. “It was an incredible game,” Trump said. “A little surprising, but right from the beginning of the first quarter of the big game—which I watched in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift. How did that work out?” The comment drew laughs but also renewed attention to Trump’s history of public criticism of the singer.

Earlier in the year, Trump mocked Swift on his Truth Social platform, claiming she was booed at the Super Bowl and writing, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” In September 2024, following Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, Trump escalated the rhetoric, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

Despite the remarks, the event largely proceeded without controversy. Trump praised the Eagles’ controversial but effective “Tush Push” quarterback sneak, which had recently sparked debate about its legality in the NFL.

Notable absences included Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, reportedly due to “scheduling conflicts,” and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who had been involved in a previous White House ceremony mishap.
