A video circulating on social media captures the moment Alex Otti confronted journalist Chika Nwabueze during a media parley in Abia State.
At the event, Nwabueze asked the governor to present verifiable data demonstrating that, beyond road construction, his administration had delivered measurable economic and social progress since taking office in May 2023.
The question appeared to irritate Governor Otti, who responded sharply. He argued that the journalist should already have relevant data and frame questions accordingly.
“You have not said anything. Do you live in Abia? If you live in Umuahia, you are the one that will provide data,” the governor said. He added that the media chat was a serious engagement and not a platform to “massage the opposition.”
“You can’t come to a media chat and ask me to provide data about the measurable impact and work being done in the state where you live. It is irresponsible. Just because we opened the floor for questions does not mean people should be careless. Let’s take this seriously,” he said.
The video of the exchange has since gone viral online.
