Atiku Quits PDP, Declares Party Has Lost Its Way

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the next general election.

Atiku’s departure comes just weeks after he aligned with members of a Coalition group backing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a viable alternative to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 polls.

In his resignation letter, Atiku expressed deep concerns over the current trajectory of the PDP, stating that the party has strayed from its founding values and no longer represents the democratic ideals it once championed. He described the decision as difficult but necessary for the good of Nigeria’s democratic future.

A copy of the resignation letter has since been made public, stirring reactions across political circles and social media platforms.
