The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has passed away at the age of 91.
The revered monarch died on the evening of Sunday, July 13, just hours after the death of his longtime friend and former Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, was announced.
Oba Adetona ascended the throne on April 2, 1960, and reigned for over 64 years, making him one of the longest-serving traditional rulers in Nigeria’s history.
