Suspected Fulani herdsmen have killed the District Head of Odugbeho community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, His Royal Highness Chief Anthony Adejo.

The attack occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. while the monarch was on his farm.

According to a local resident, Edo Seidu, the attackers took the chief’s mobile phone and other belongings. “When calls were made to his phone, they answered and confirmed he had been killed,” Seidu said.

“I spoke with him just a day before. We were supposed to meet on Wednesday. It’s heartbreaking to learn of his death in this way,” he added, describing the late chief as a humble and highly respected leader who treated everyone with dignity regardless of their background.
