Caf Reveals Redesigned Champions League Trophy

CAF unveils new Champions League Trophy

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with TotalEnergies, has officially unveiled a newly redesigned trophy for the CAF Champions League. The unveiling ceremony took place at TotalEnergies’ headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was attended by African football legends including Lucas Radebe, Teko Modise, and Siphiwe Tshabalala, as well as prominent CAF officials and key figures in African football.

This season’s final—set to feature either Mamelodi Sundowns or Pyramids FC—will see the winning team become the first to lift the new trophy, marking a landmark moment in the history of African club football.

More than just a visual update, the redesigned trophy symbolizes CAF’s broader initiative to modernize and elevate its competitions. As part of a sweeping rebranding strategy, the new trophy aims to enhance the global visibility and appeal of African football.

“In line with the vision of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, we are rebranding and repositioning African football with a strong focus on interclub competitions,” said CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba. “The reveal of this TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy is a bold step toward creating a dynamic and exciting future for African club football.”

The trophy’s design is inspired by Africa’s diverse cultural heritage and the passionate spirit of competition that defines the Champions League. Its sleek silver and gold lines reflect unity, rivalry, and balance, while a golden sphere at the top—embellished with African motifs—represents the pinnacle of achievement: victory.

The combination of silver and gold not only celebrates the champions but also honors their challengers, embodying the core values of ambition, respect, and excellence that drive African football forward.
