Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has come to the defense of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership, praising the integrity of those appointed to lead the party’s new opposition coalition.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television, Dalung—who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari—commended the ADC’s current leadership for its credibility and unblemished record.
“There’s no video of ADC Chairman David Mark stuffing dollars into his pocket,” Dalung remarked, taking a swipe at the reputations of leaders in other political parties who have faced corruption allegations.
Responding to claims that the ADC had been hijacked—particularly allegations from the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu—Dalung firmly rejected the accusations. He emphasized that the transition of leadership was both legitimate and transparent.
“The coalition didn’t hijack the ADC,” Dalung stated. “Former chairman Ralph Nwosu officially handed over to David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, who now serve as interim National Chairman and Secretary, respectively.”
