Dele Momodu Resigns From PDP, Joins ADC Coalition

Veteran journalist and politician Dele Momodu has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He made the announcement via social media on the morning of July 17, sharing his resignation letter publicly.

In the letter, Momodu cited what he described as the “hijacking” of the PDP by anti-democratic forces, both internal and external. He said the situation left him with no choice but to walk away from what he called the “carcass” of the once-formidable party. It is only honourable to abandon the carcass of the PDP to those who now control it,” he wrote, adding that many like-minded members are now aligning with the emerging coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Momodu’s move marks a significant political shift as opposition forces begin to regroup ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He shared the full resignation letter in his post.
