A disturbing incident of violence against a healthcare worker has emerged from SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, India, where an on-duty doctor was physically assaulted by a patient’s attendant. The attack was caught on CCTV.
The footage shows the man, reportedly a relative of a patient, entering a hospital room where the doctor was speaking with another patient’s family. Without warning, the man approaches and punches the doctor, knocking him to the ground.
This marks the second attack on a doctor in Jammu and Kashmir within a week and adds to the growing number of assaults on medical professionals across India.
In response, medical staff at SMHS Hospital suspended services and staged a protest, demanding stronger security measures to ensure their safety while on duty.
