Defending champions Nigeria’s D’Tigress are on the brink of making history as they gear up to face Mali in the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket, with hopes of becoming the first nation to clinch five consecutive titles in the tournament’s history.

The highly anticipated clash follows two intense semifinal games on Saturday. Nigeria booked their spot in the final after a gritty 75-68 win over fierce rivals Senegal, maintaining their unbeaten run and setting up a showdown with fellow West Africans Mali.

Mali, in dominant form, cruised past South Sudan with a commanding 76-50 victory in the second semifinal. They opened with a blistering 29-8 first quarter and maintained their momentum with solid performances in the second and third quarters, outscoring their opponents 21-11 and 20-17 respectively. With the result sealed, Mali eased off in the final quarter, where South Sudan briefly rallied, outscoring them 14-6.

The final promises a thrilling encounter as both teams aim to assert their dominance in African women’s basketball.
