First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has teamed up with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to launch the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women program in Nigeria, aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs.
The 10,000 Women initiative is a global effort by Goldman Sachs to support economic growth by equipping female entrepreneurs with practical business education. Delivered online through the University of Leeds, the program offers 10 comprehensive courses and access to a global alumni community. To date, it has reached over 200,000 women worldwide.
In Nigeria, FCMB will implement the program through its SheVentures platform, which has supported thousands of women-led businesses over the past five years. The initiative has provided up to N800 million in zero-interest loans, alongside training and mentorship.
Yemisi Edun, Managing Director of FCMB, highlighted the impact of the partnership, stating:
“Empowering women entrepreneurs is essential to driving innovation, job creation, and economic growth. This program will not only enhance their skills but also open new opportunities, aligning with our commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.”
George Ogbonnaya, FCMB’s Divisional Head of Business Banking, added:
“Our collaboration with IFC and Goldman Sachs promotes gender equality in the entrepreneurial space and supports long-term business growth for women across Nigeria.”
Applications for the 10,000 Women Online program opened on August 1, 2025, and close on August 31, 2025. It is open to both startups and established women-led businesses. Interested entrepreneurs can apply via https://on.fcmb.com/10000Women-training.
