British media personality Gemma Atkinson has revealed she was once offered a substantial sum of money to speak negatively about her former partner, Cristiano Ronaldo, following the end of their relationship in 2007.
Atkinson, who briefly dated Ronaldo during his early years at Manchester United, said she turned down the offer because she had nothing bad to say about him.
“When we broke up, I was offered a lot of money to speak badly about him, and I didn’t want it because I had nothing negative to say about him, so I see no reason to speak ill of him,” she shared during an interview with Key 103 Radio.
The pair’s romance attracted significant media attention at the time, as Ronaldo was rapidly rising to global superstardom in English football. However, their relationship ended in October 2007 after just a few months together.
Since then, both have moved on with their lives. Atkinson is now married to professional dancer Gorka Marquez, and the couple share two children, Mia and Thiago.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, is engaged to Georgina Rodríguez, whom he met in 2016 when she was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. Together, they share daughters Alana and Bella, as well as twins Eva Maria and Mateo via surrogacy. The couple also endured personal tragedy following the loss of their baby son, Ángel, shortly after birth. Ronaldo is also father to Cristiano Jr. from a previous relationship.
Atkinson’s comments offer a rare glimpse into the intense media scrutiny that often surrounds high-profile relationships, highlighting her decision to prioritise integrity over financial gain nearly two decades after their split.
